Template Letter To End Tenancy

's review of James Gabel, specially written for our blog
.
This is a slim pamphlet, in which the authors engage in constructive dialogue, comparing their experiences in the cultural environment of the Italian right, the eighties to today. Reading these two authors is a real pleasure, and already the first lines you can realize the personality very rare that one has before, in a stagnant and swampy as the Italian one, in which unbridled opportunism reigns and where the ultimate goal is always the self-interest.
Nicola and Carlo Vacca Gambescia recount in full and a critical overview their cultural, made of ideas, values and beliefs, acquired through years and years of work and reflection and deconstruct them from the root.
Nicola Vacca, coming from the Socialist, dwells at length on the fruitful experience of associate of the cultural pages of the "Century of Italy, and speaks with obvious bitterness of the change of guard at the direction of the newspaper, which was passed by ' Gennaro Malgieri loved to much less estimated Flavia Perina, that a second cow "has read fewer books than I have written it."
Carlo Gambescia, extraction and liberal Catholic, but recalls his approach to Mark Tarchi, the happy period of collaboration to the magazines "Diorama Literature" and "transgression" and the shift away from the latter occurred as a result, the coming into contact with Enzo Cipriano and his publishing house "Seventh Seal" (the first to have published the texts of Alain de Benoist in Italy), for which he served the role of editor and creator, for example, the excellent series "Anamera. Rarely
the cultural landscape we had were able to offer a discussion as interesting as the innate, very Italian hypocritical vocation has always prevented any kind of radical analysis, where the analysis radicals are the only ones able to stimulate positive thoughts to generate ideas very fruitful. Both authors have deconstructed their disenchantment Italian right calling for a more devoted to culture and less subject to the dictates imposed by the court jesters of the faithful to his master, who in the book are called "Finian's complement", rei, for example, had sold off assets culurale, that of MSI old, not at all contemptible and ruined a very respectable newspaper as the "Century of Italy", by folding the instrumental purposes of an individual. The individual in question is none other than Gianfranco Fini, who draws a highly critical portrait.
In fact, for two keen observers happened "right case", whose impartiality is questionable if, as a politician Gianfranco Fini can not be desirable. Fini, a time-honored dolphin Giorgio Almirante, had the courage to define fascism "absolute evil" was never a man of culture, so that away from positions that counted all those who, like Gennaro Malgieri, had a better idea top right, only to write a book, entitled dall'altisonante The Future of Freedom (in terms of rhetoric, there is nothing to envy to Rifenstahl of "The Triumph of the Will"), full of cultural references, from Thomas Mann, Karl Popper, until, indeed, to Friedrich von Hayek. Let the word Nicola Vacca: "Gianfranco Fini wants to be at all costs the political man of the moment. In recent years it has consumed so many of those tears that no longer recognizes him as a human right. In return, he became chairman of the House and left the champion of radical chic. Left all applaud him. Intellectuals and not. "
The authors also explore the phenomenon, little known in Italy, the" New Right ", born in France by Alain de Benoist brilliant ideas of the eclectic and imported to Italy by Marco Tarchi, of which Charles Gambescia was a close collaborator. The ideas of "New Right", soaked in antiutilitarismo, anti-Americanism, environmentalism and communitarianism, rightly defined antisystemic, are put in opposition to the emptiness of the farcical and self-styled "New Right", which builds on the foundation Finian, entirely without a political project, by the name of "Making the Future", whose sole job, according to the authors, beyond the simple "look left to displace the Berlusconi", given the old and never appeased temptation to Fini to replace the tenant to Arcore, always dominant cock of the house.
The book is not limited however to the cold scrutiny of organic equipment to the PDL, but explores the concept of the right to relate, metapolitical, the current Italian situation, so as to reveal the huge gaps. Both authors remember with warm affection Giano Accame the historian and journalist, recently deceased, and the show as one of the icons of the conservative right, that it does not hand the gun every time you heard the word "culture", who can listen to others without reason to hide behind their armor regardless of any ideological castra constructive confrontation.
Nicola Vacca makes repeated reference to the old Prezzolini Joseph, man of the nineteenth century, the perennial search for the right as a conservative, unable to reconcile modernity with tradition by not disavowing the values. Intellectuals now much in vogue, such as Marcello Veneziani Pietrangelo Buttafuoco and instead are cut off, football, in our opinion, too much hand it is argued that the first "is not a carrier of ideas," while the latter is portrayed as "a proponent of a right field in the air, a bit futuristic, a little 'anarchist, but so imaginary (...). We have known the mind strong, we were invaded by the thought weak, but Buttafuoco is the true 'Cazzaro' empty of thought ...".
Some hits are also trimmed the historian Franco Cardini, who is suspected, in our opinion, so unfounded, that it is not immune from the "fascist temptation" mentioned by Tarmo Kunnas. The condemnation of the Italian right now and its representatives, however, is without appeal.
For his part, Charles Gambescia writes: "The crisis of 'identity of the right is given by the denial of its past ideology. Today of Fini and the right of the 'Century of Italy 'are accepted by the left as you come down only on his own ground. This must be said. The great harmony between the last leader of the Italian right and the left has compromised any kind of synthesis. The career of Fini has created a monster: a personal right which permits each day left to discover in the best of all possible worlds, which legitimize themselves. "How can we not agree with him?
In conclusion, the book is not without flaws and exaggerations here and there, but much must be forgiven to the authors, who have embellished, if nothing else, the great merit consists in having brought to the attention of readers with a serious and lucid analysis of the problems today are maliciously unspoken o minimizzati; uno fra tutti, la scomunica irrevocabile dei "fascisti" come Giano Accame, messi all'angolo da una cultura barbara schiava del politicamente corretto.

In this curious book illustrating and explaining everything, taking a position with an appreciable (basically) clarity, naming and criticizing a number of people, for better or for worse. Common to both is the idol was Giano Accame ("true intellectual," "prodigious memory," and Socratic dialogue, "" great journalist, "" great writer "," full of candor and humility, "" a real irregular " ), high praise for Enzo Cipriano ("great traditionalist," "Seventh Seal landmark," "a culture without compromise"); common enemies seem to be Marcello Veneziani (narcissism at work " "il Veneziani non conforme è durato poco", "solipsista", "non è un portatore sano di idee") e Buttafuoco ("collaborazionista del nulla", "si è perso nel nulla", "è sempre stato il nulla", "fautore di una destra campata in aria").

Mi trovo a scrivere di questo libro nella posizione di chi collabora con un quotidiano storico come "Il Secolo d'Italia", da qualche mese, and who has good relations with the editorial director, Luciano Lanna: in my experience, what Gambescia Vacca and write about Lanna and the "Century" of 2010 is not sensible, it is not true and is incorrect. From subscriber to the newspaper, I read articles of great breadth and understanding, signed by Cardini, Lanna, Alfatti Appetites, young Scianca: just to name a few. It is true that I met, occasionally, articles and cutting nazionalpopolare argument: not only is this action a minority, it is - from what I read in the last four months - to work or self-mocking irony, the absolute majority of cases . When missing the irony, we would surely object. But I think a newspaper should not fade away in the ivory tower of radicalism, of experimentalism and dell'atipicità: culture, I too am very sorry but this is so, is also popular. It is even popular. It's about learn to write with the right balance. Without confusing what is popular with what is populist, for example.
seems to me that the clever opening of the "Century" to all Italian citizens, and not only to voters and former militants of AN, may be prodromal to the foundation of something new. I like to dream - as a reader, beware! - That this something new there is no room for misunderstandings and berluscones forzisti, and nostalgia for Veltroni, per casacche cambiate in fretta e poi riposte nello sgabuzzino.
Vacca deplora quella che ritiene una "svolta pop o yéyé" del quotidiano, nata, a suo avviso, per rincorrere quello che chiama "veltronismo culturale" (p. 85), rivendicando "paginate whole of great cultural importance "(p. 23), tolerated with impatience by Fini because" non-organic line of An. "But now, according to Nicholas says, the" Finian's complement "(p. 41) that line new: according to Vacca and Gambescia, "farewell debate and analysis, and reviews on topics glamorous in a nutshell" (p. 42). These reviews in a nutshell - I mean really - I read them too: sin here, I have found from 5 thousand to 13 thousand jokes from Tuesday to Saturday. And I wondered what else could read daily short essays like these, not just reviews. In network happens very rarely on paper. As for the glamorous, even as I come from journalistic experience (5-6 anni fa) in cui quella parola dovevo scriverla davvero, per trentamila lettori al mese, mi arrogo il diritto di saperlo riconoscere.
Mi sembra una trovata da pop-art – dice Vacca – to mask the imagination through a tragically nothing further "(p. 57). I see it differently: the libertarian right is a unique cultural heritage for a nation that wants to see (do not hold: there is ...) I live credible and the debate between the forces of cultural hegemony of the former Marxist, Catholic ones, those liberals, reformist and the conservative: it must begin from the existing cultural heritage and unexplored, to restore the conditions for a constructive dialogue (made of clashes, even harsh) between the parties.
Vacca was and is from "a certain idea of the left": that of Carlo Rosselli, one of Turati: socialism and liberal reformism. Party reference PSI. Vacca collaborated with the "Next", then passed to the "Newspaper of Italy" and finally, through his friendship with Gennaro Malgieri, the "Century of Italy." In recent years, has collaborated with "Line".
Gambescia instead comes from the Catholic social culture, oriented toward a "realist liberalism." Gambescia passed right by working with the "New Right" by Marco Tarchi, then thirty, animator of the magazine "Diorama". Their intellectual common reference, then, it was Sorokin. The cultural battle antimissina was "full and informed acceptance of the rules and content of democracy and fascism avant la lettre (p. 30). Gambescia then went to work with "Area" of Aleman and issues Seventh Seal (nine years): Tarceva did not like. Currently, he works with "Line".
Gambescia and cows are extremely critical of the Finian: characterized, in order, to be "left with caviar and not Bombacci" (forgive me but I prefer the caviar), a reformist considered unrealistic, from "do not tumble things change, "from" supersonic speed of change of horse "and believe that it is more right, because" a genuine anti-fascist right is not defined, but feels dead together to anti-fascism "(p. 55). Here Fini has become the "champion of the left radical chic" (p. 76), and so on. Professor Fields (Farefuturo) is defined as "praetorian who plays the tears of Fini" (p. 19). Farefuturo, "the toy of Fini, the prince of this workshop talking heads" (p. 44), "pseudodestra serving plutocrats" (p. 48). The plutocrats would need to name, but transeamus. Spiritual father of this new right, however, should be, according to Vacca and Gambescia, Prezzolini: the book as shown unequivocally starting point is "Interview on the Right."
In short, the moral of the story seems to be that those who came from DC or PSI, feels, in 2010, of having to go to say to those who came from the MSI is and what is not right, what had MSI, and what aennino, and What should be finiano. I find it a great exercise in creativity and friendship, from this point of view: it is as if I worked for ten years or for two years with the "Manifesto", with "La Padania", or "Future", and all of Suddenly, after I left, felt you want to say to former colleagues is what Communist League thing, or what the Catholic people. All this proves - if proof were ever needed - that the libertarian right [not that berlusconide: please!] And there was no room for the views and contributions of everyone and that there is a large hunger for new ideas and ideals, and that there is openness and readiness for dialogue and confrontation, always.
It is clear that since 1989 has collapsed a world based on the terrible ideological contrasts and ideals that we are living in this gray and depressing period after Berlusconi's "Clean Hands" (period I would say no more pentapartitico: esapartitico considering the presence of former MSI, according to the components of the chaotic PDL) is a period of transition to a new world.
I dream about this new world libertarian, democratic and Europe. The dialectical dream, the enemy of corruption and party politics. The dream frank, open: neo-neo-left and right, spiritual and no longer hooked to the twentieth century or the nineteenth century [...], finally able to go back to look up at the dawn of civilization to form and constitute a new paradigm. And the new paradigm is formed only looking forward. What
Nicola and Carlo have felt the need to say that the colorful world, heretic, irregular and unpredictable former right MSI are a lot of things happened and there have been comparisons, fights, broken, change it gives me great pleasure, much less I am pleased to read attacks on the newspaper I work with and people I know and what I love for what they are and for the loyalty and honesty that have shown towards me.
I should have read this book from their peers, to understand many other dynamics that name and describe briefly, but unfortunately, the fifteen or twenty years of experience and knowledge that separate us, they put me in a position to shake his head often faced with certain names or certain directions, because they do not remember or do not know or do not concern me at all.
not it be better to write a book about the "new right" imagined by Nicola and Carlo, rather than play the target practice (one step away from 'ndo cojo cojo) with colleagues, friends or former friends? I say yes.
